- September, 2024
Kayenzi Village, Nyamata Sector, Bugesera District – Iwacu Recovery Centre (IRC) has proudly opened the Hope for Recovery Christian School in response to the heartfelt requests of parents from Kayenzi village in Nyamata Sector, Bugesera District. The school aims to provide a nurturing educational environment for children from vulnerable families, many of whom face the challenges of poverty and the devastating effects of alcohol addiction.
Kigali, Rwanda – Iwacu Recovery Centre (IRC) is extending its support to Anti-Drugs Clubs in schools across the country as part of its ongoing efforts to raise awareness and prevent drug abuse among young people. Through psychoeducation programs, IRC is equipping students nationwide with the knowledge and tools needed to resist the pressures of drug use and make informed, healthy choices.
In addition to its school-based initiatives, IRC is also establishing support groups for youth outside of schools in local youth clubs across Rwanda. These groups offer a platform for young people to discuss challenges related to drug use and mental health, while receiving guidance, counseling, and peer support.
The Centre is dedicated to creating a healthier, drug-free environment for the youth of Rwanda and calls for continued collaboration with schools, communities, and other stakeholders to combat drug abuse and its detrimental impact on young people’s lives.
